STUDENT VOLUNTEERING PROGRAM
What is the program?
The Student Volunteering Program (SVP), previously known as the VCE Volunteering Program, provides an opportunity for Year 12 students across Australia to learn about global health and be actively involved in making change. Students will be given the opportunity to converse with healthcare workers and educators across the world, develop their leadership skills, organize fundraisers in their schools or clubs, and much more!
The SVP is not only a short-term effort, but it is also one that focuses on creating long-term solutions to overcome challenges in global health and education. Beyond Year 12, volunteers are encouraged to participate in different roles in the Health in Focus team, further honing their skills and knowledge in global health. Positions in the Management Team and Youth Volunteering Program (YVP) are available for SVP graduates. For the 2020-2023 SVP cohorts, over 93% of volunteers transitioned into the YVP, with most continuing even when they graduate and become healthcare workers themselves!
